Swimming in the Danube
From the riverbank beach in Alturfahr (on the north bank of the river), you can swim downstream past Linz Castle and the Nibelungen Bridge. On the right bank south of the Railroad Bridge (Eisenbahnbrücke), Linz09 has set up a new riverbank beach. Another interesting option is an outing by bicycle to Ottensheim, about 9 km along the Danube Bike Path. Thanks to various protective measures, the Danube’s water quality is ideal for swimming nowadays.
